• Safety First - Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAV) can reduce vehicle crashes and improve pedestrian and cyclist safety, contributing to the Toward Zero Deaths and Vision Zero goals.
• Cultivate Excellence - CAVs will provide an innovative approach to operate the transportation system providing new career progression opportunities for new and existing employees.
• Enhance and Connect the Multimodal Transportation Network - CAVs will be connected to the multimodal networks for walking, bicycling, and transit use by improving transit connectivity and reliability to create seamless access and connections between multimodal transportation options.
• Strengthen Stewardship and Drive Efficiency - CAVs provide an innovative approach to improve safety, mobility, and air quality at a fraction of the cost of traditional infrastructure improvements.
• Lead Climate Action - CAVs will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and wasted fuel by changing the need for individualized parking spaces and lots, with increased use of automated rideshare and transit.
• Advance Equity and Livability in All Communities - CAVs can provide greater access to mobility and transportation equity within disadvantaged communities, persons with disabilities, the elderly, children, etc.
