On May 24, the California Transportation Foundation (CTF) held its 28th Annual Transportation Awards Ceremony to recognize excellence in all different transportation modes, from the public and private sector, and from all regions of the state. This year, the Transportation Awards jury reviewed 90 outstanding nominations, and as stated by Sasha Dansky, Foundation Chair and Principal at Mark Thomas, “Our selections represent 2016’s best projects, programs and people and their contributions improved California transportation.” For more on the ceremony, click here.

The Foundation also co-sponsored Caltrans’ Statewide Fallen Workers Memorial Ceremony on April 27. CTF had a booth this year to interact with the attendees and spread the word on the Foundation’s Injured & Fallen Worker Support Fund and the Children of Fallen Workers Scholarship. The scholarship provides financial assistance to children of fallen Caltrans workers killed on the job to help meet their post-high school educational goals. This year, Adriana Lopez, from California State University, Northridge, won the $2,000 scholarship.

The Foundation is also matching donations for the Annette Brooks’ Memorial Fund. Structural Steel Paint Supervisor Brooks was shot and killed by another Caltrans employee in April in Rio Dell. To make a donation, go to www.transportationfoundation.org/donate and select the “Brooks Memorial Fund.” On July 17, you can support the foundation by playing golf. The annual NorCal Golf Tournament will be at the Yocha Dehe Golf Club at Cache Creek Casino Resort. The SoCal annual Charity Golf Tournament raised $40,905 in April to support the Foundation’s Scholarship and Injured & Fallen Worker Support programs. Thank you to all our sponsors, golfers, and volunteers who made this event such a success.
