The California Transportation Foundation (CTF) was established to help those working in the field of transportation. CTF establishes scholarships in memory of loved ones, gives service recognition pins for long-term employees in the field, and more. Remember to call the Foundation if someone needs help. Even if CTF doesn’t have a specific program for it, let the Foundation try to find a way to help.

Since its founding in 1988, CTF has awarded more than $865,000 in scholarships. Applicants must be United States citizens, permanent residents, or documented international students attending a California university or college, and plan to pursue a career in transportation after graduation. Each of the 40 scholarships have additional qualifications that can be found at www.transportationfoundation.org.

Examples of the scholarships currently accepting applications include:

The Tim Fleming Memorial Scholarship
Applications are due by December 16, 2016. Applicants must be a civil engineering/transportation major at California State University, Sacramento; University of California, Davis; or University of the Pacific.

The CTF Graduate School Scholarship
Applications are due by April 3, 2017, and are available online.

The 2017 CTF $5,000 Heckeroth Scholarship
Applications are due February 15, 2017, and are available online. Applicants must be a civil engineering major, and must have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA.

A complete list of all the scholarships, qualifications, and contact people can be found on CTF’s website.

A Worker’s Assistance Fund was recently established for Sacramento Systems Software Specialist Chris O’Toole, who recently suffered a tremendous property loss due to a fire. If interested in helping Mr. O’Toole, visit CTF’s website to make a donation.
