Caltrans has historically been one of the largest Our Promise (OP) contributors, with more than 2,400 pledged donors giving almost $500,000 in 2018. In 2018 Caltrans won the Exceptional Leadership Achievement Award for the fourth consecutive year due to having the largest number of employees giving $1,000 or more a year.

The Caltrans 2019 OP campaign slogan is “The Power of an Hour” (we’re calling it the POAH) and was designed to encourage Caltrans workers to donate one hour’s worth of their monthly salary to their favorite nonprofit.

Donating the equivalent of one hour of your paid work time (about one-160th of your monthly paycheck) to your favorite nonprofit can make a huge difference in our communities. Donors have more than 2,000 organizations statewide to select from.

To find a nonprofit that is participating in the OP program, check the Our Promise "Find a Nonprofit" page, where you can narrow your search by name, ZIP code, county or cause.

No donation is too small. Pledging as little as $5 a month makes a positive impact to California nonprofits.

The Caltrans OP Team has some fun events and promotions planned to promote POAH and to encourage more OP participants. They include competitions among the departments under the California State Transportation Agency to promote OP and various nonprofits. Headquarters and regional districts also will conduct kick off OP events.

Noey Rios is this year’s OP Chair and Diane Falls is the Vice-Chair.

Our goal this year is to hold our Exceptional Leadership Achievement Award title and to increase participation and donation amounts by helping employees to understand the amazing impact that “the power of their hour” has on California communities.

The Caltrans OP team welcomes your feedback and inquiries; send us an email at Our.Promise@dot.ca.gov. Together, let’s make 2019 Caltrans’ most successful OP campaign yet!
