Verizon will also continue overnight weekday trenching work near the intersection of PCH and SR-27
TOPANGA – Weekday one-way traffic control will begin Monday, June 8, in the Palisades Fire recovery work zone on Topanga Canyon Boulevard/State Route 27 (SR-27) near the State Route 1/Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) intersection.
Flaggers will direct one-way traffic control from as early as 6 a.m. to as late as 7 p.m. daily starting Monday, June 8, for about 0.50 miles where crews are working on SR-27 between PCH and mile marker 1.8. Crews will start near the intersection of PCH and SR-27 and work north, covering roughly a half-mile per day. The work is expected to be completed by June 12.
The closure is necessary for Verizon to restore the highway to its previous conditions after trenching work to underground wires. This includes pouring cement, which cures better during the daytime than overnight.
Verizon will continue overnight trenching work between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. weekdays at the intersection of PCH and SR-27. This includes one-lane traffic control on SR-27 for less than 0.25 miles north of PCH. The right turn lanes from northbound PCH onto SR-27 and southbound SR-27 onto northbound PCH will also be closed during this time.
Additional one-lane traffic control on SR-27 less than three miles north of PCH remains in effect between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. as crews continue retaining wall work.
SR-27 from Pacific Coast Highway to Grand View Drive is an active work zone to complete recovery work from the 2025 Palisades Fire and subsequent storms. The majority of the work is expected to wrap up this summer.
Motorists are advised to use alternate routes and plan for extra travel time if driving through the work zone. Take extra caution while driving, especially around blind curves, in case of stalled traffic. Fines can be doubled in a work zone.
