Caltrans Announces Weekend Work Along State Route 2 in Echo Park: Near Montana Street

LOS ANGELES — Caltrans announces weekend bus pad work in Segment C of the State Route 2 (SR-2) Multimodal Project in the Los Angeles community of Echo Park.

Construction work to replace a bus pad along northbound Alvarado Street near Montana Street is planned Saturday, March 28 at 9 p.m. to Sunday, March 29 at 11 a.m. There will be no parking along Alvarado Street where the bus pad is being replaced.

Those traveling along the following routes will experience closures as follows: 

Segment C (Echo Park): Saturday, March 28 to Sunday, March 29

  • 9 p.m. Saturday, March 28 to 11 a.m. Sunday, March 29 up to two lanes closed on northbound Alvarado Street near Montana Street for bus pad work
  • No parking along northbound Alvarado Street near Montana Street. Signs will be posted in advance of parking restrictions 

During lane closures, driveways to businesses will remain accessible. Motorists and community members may expect shoulder and parking restrictions during construction work on SR-2 in both directions. Signs will be posted in advance of parking restrictions. 

This approximately $70.2 million project is happening along SR-2 from Centinela Avenue in Santa Monica to the SR-2 terminus in Echo Park. The multimodal project is comprised of three segments: 

  • Segment A is on Santa Monica Boulevard between Centinela Avenue and Interstate 405 in West Los Angeles. (1.4 miles) 
  • Segment B is on Santa Monica Boulevard between La Brea Avenue and U.S. 101 in Hollywood. (2.1 miles) 
  • Segment C is on Alvarado Street/Glendale Boulevard between northbound U.S. 101 on/off-ramps and northbound SR-2 terminus in Echo Park. (1.5 miles) 

Once complete, the project will extend the pavement life and enhance safety along multiple segments of SR-2 in the city of Los Angeles.

Due to weather or operational reasons, the schedule is subject to change including the times and dates, the number of closures and other details.
