LOS ANGELES—Caltrans announces overnight closures on U.S. Highway 101 (U.S. 101) in Los Angeles, Tuesday, Sept. 8 through Friday, Sept. 11, for paving work. This work is part of a pavement rehabilitation project on U.S. Highway 101 (U.S. 101) in the Cahuenga Pass.
Northbound U.S. 101 will be reduced to three lanes overnight between Highland Avenue and State Route 170 (SR-170). Southbound U.S. 101 will be reduced to two lanes overnight between SR-170 and Cahuenga Blvd, and reduced to one lane from 2 a.m. to 4 a.m. (4 a.m. to 5 a.m. Saturday morning).
Tuesday night, Sept. 8 through Friday morning, Sept. 11:
Northbound U.S. 101
- Up to two lanes will be closed on northbound U.S. 101 from Highland Avenue to SR-170 starting as early as 10 p.m. until 6 a.m.
Southbound U.S. 101
- Up to three lanes will be closed on southbound U.S. 101 from SR-170 to Highland Avenue starting as early as 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. and up to four lanes closed from 2 a.m. to 4 a.m.
Friday night, Sept. 11 through Saturday morning, Sept. 12:
Northbound U.S. 101
- Up to two lanes will be closed on northbound U.S. 101 from Highland Avenue to SR-170 starting as early as 10 p.m. until 9 a.m.
Southbound U.S. 101
- Up to three lanes will be closed on southbound U.S. 101 from SR-170 to Highland Avenue starting as early as 10 p.m. until 9 a.m. and up to four lanes closed from 4 a.m. to 5 a.m.
The following connector closures are subject to change and are scheduled as follows:

- Northbound U.S. 101 (Hollywood Freeway) connector to northbound SR-170 will be fully closed from 11:59 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Southbound U.S. 101
- Southbound U.S. 101 (Ventura Freeway) connector to eastbound SR-134 will be fully closed from 11:59 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Southbound SR-170
- Southbound SR-170 connector to southbound U.S. 101 (Hollywood Freeway will be fully closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Friday night, Sept. 11 through Saturday morning, Sept. 12:
Northbound U.S. 101
- Northbound U.S. 101 (Hollywood Freeway) connector to northbound SR-170 will be fully closed from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Southbound U.S. 101
- Southbound U.S. 101 (Ventura Freeway) connector to eastbound SR-134 will be fully closed from 11:59 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Southbound SR-170
- Southbound SR-170 connector to southbound U.S. 101 (Hollywood Freeway will be fully closed from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.

- Northbound Cahuenga Boulevard on-ramp to northbound U.S. 101, from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m.

- Westbound Universal Studios Boulevard/W.C. Fields Drive on-ramps to northbound U.S.101, from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m.
- Moorpark Street on-ramp to northbound U.S. 101, from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m.
- Northbound Universal Studios Boulevard/W.C. Fields Drive off-ramp from northbound U.S. 101 will be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Friday night, Sept. 11 through Saturday morning, Sept. 12:
Northbound U.S. 101
- Northbound Cahuenga Boulevard on-ramp to northbound U.S. 101, from 11 p.m. until 11 a.m.
- Eastbound Universal Studios Boulevard on-ramp to northbound U.S.101, from 9 p.m. until 11 a.m.
- Westbound Universal Studios Boulevard/W.C. Fields Drive on-ramps to northbound U.S.101, from 11 p.m. until 11 a.m.
- Northbound Universal Studios Boulevard/W.C. Fields Drive off-ramp from northbound U.S. 101 will be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- Moorpark Street on-ramp to northbound U.S. 101, from 8 p.m. until 10 a.m.
- Northbound Universal Studios Boulevard/ W.C. Fields Drive off-ramp from northbound U.S. 101 will be closed from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.
Message signs will be placed along detour routes to direct traffic. Caltrans encourages motorists to allow extra travel time and to drive with caution in the area.
Due to weather or operational reasons, the schedule is subject to change including the times and dates, the number of closures and other details. Caltrans will rehabilitate asphalt along U.S. 101 lanes, ramps, and shoulders, and replace and repair concrete slabs. Work will also involve replacing guardrails, curbs and dikes, a crash cushion, and traffic striping, as well as upgrades to curb ramps at 23 locations to meet ADA standards. Once complete, the $24.3 million project will extend the pavement life, improve ride quality, and enhance pedestrian accessibility safety along U.S. 101 in the Cahuenga Pass in the city of Los Angeles. Construction is expected to complete in summer 2029. The contractor is Chumo Construction Inc.
