Project Overview

This project spans approximately 4 miles of U.S. 101 from the Pilgrimage Overcrossing Bridge in the Cahuenga Pass to State Route 170 (SR-170) in the city of Los Angeles. Caltrans will preserve and extend the life of existing pavement to improve ride quality and safety, as well as make pedestrian accessibility enhancements to meet Americans with Disability Act (ADA)standards. The work totals $24.3 million. The contractor is Chumo Construction Inc

Benefits

Improving the condition of facilities on this segment of U.S. 101, this project addresses minor pavement distress by replacing cracked slabs to address reported vibration and noise issues, and repairing areas of damage, including cracked pavement on the northbound on-ramp from Universal Center Drive. Other improvements include new guardrails, curb ramps and a section of a concrete barrier within the historic Cahuenga District.

Schedule

Construction is scheduled from winter 2025/2026 through summer 2029.

U.S. 101 will remain open during construction, with lane and connector closures limited to nighttime hours to minimize impact to local residents and businesses. Some ramps are expected to have shoulder closures during the day and full closures at night; others may close during both daytime and nighttime hours.
