Los Angeles ― Caltrans announces intermittent overnight street closures to take place on Cahuenga Boulevard East, between Pilgrimage Overcrossing Bridge and Mulholland Bridge, starting Jan. 30 for k-rail installation. This work is part of a pavement rehabilitation project on U.S. Highway 101 (U.S. 101) in the Cahuenga Pass.

Intermittent overnight street closures will begin Jan. 30 and continue through Mar. 31. While no work will take place on Cahuenga Boulevard East, k-rails will be placed to ensure the safety of construction workers in the work zone on U.S. 101. Construction activity will be limited to approved working hours.

The closures are subject to change and are scheduled as follows:

Friday, Jan. 30 through Tuesday, Mar. 31:

Cahuenga Boulevard East will be closed intermittently overnight between Pilgrimage Overcrossing Bridge and Mulholland Bridge

Monday through Friday:

  • 11:59 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Saturday

  • 11:59 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Flaggers will direct traffic from Cahuenga Hills Tennis Condominiums. Detour signs will be posted. Caltrans encourages motorists to allow extra travel time and to drive with caution in the area.

Due to weather or operational reasons, the schedule is subject to change including the times and dates, the number of closures and other details. Residents and businesses located near construction may experience noise, vibrations and dust associated with construction activities. Please visit Quickmap for current road conditions.

Caltrans will rehabilitate asphalt along U.S. 101 lanes, ramps, and shoulders, and replace and repair concrete slabs. Work will also involve replacing guardrails, curbs and dikes, a crash cushion, and traffic striping, as well as upgrades to curb ramps at 23 locations to meet ADA standards. Once complete, the $24.3 million project will extend the pavement life, improve ride quality, and enhance pedestrian accessibility safety along U.S. 101 in the Cahuenga Pass in the city of Los Angeles. Construction is expected to complete in summer 2029. The contractor is Chumo Construction Inc.
