Kings Creek Bridge Lane Switch on Highway 9 Near Boulder Creek Set to Take Place Monday, September 14

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY — Travelers on Highway 9 near Boulder Creek at Kings Creek Bridge will encounter a lane switch on Monday, September 14.

Crews are near completion of the first phase of the project where they closed the southbound lane at Kings Creek Bridge to replace the southbound portion of the bridge below. Now, crews are moving onto the second phase of construction where they will work on the northbound side of the bridge.

Traffic will continue to operate using the 24/7 temporary traffic signal lights, the only change travelers will encounter is the one-way traffic control through the light will switch over from the northbound lane to the southbound lane. A tentative reopening date for the new Kings Creek Bridge is at the end of March 2027.

This work is part of the Highway 9 San Lorenzo River and Kings Creek Bridge Replacement Project taking place north of Boulder Creek and involves the full replacement of these bridges for the safety of the traveling public. Crews remain in the first phase of replacing the southbound portion of the San Lorenzo River Bridge.
