Crews Reach Milestone on Two Projects in Guadalupe
SANTA BARBARA COUNTY — Crews in Guadalupe have reached a milestone on the Santa Maria River Bridge Replacement Project. The purpose of this project is to maintain a safe, multimodal continuity between Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo County. The current Santa Maria Bridge was found to be scour critical. Construction began March 2026. All bridge girders for the new bridge have been put into place. The week of November 2, crews will continue working on drainage placement and systems for the new bridge.

The existing bridge will be removed after construction of the new bridge structure is complete. Additional information regarding the Santa Maria River Bridge Replacement Project can be found at the following link: Santa Maria River Bridge Replacement Project | Caltrans
Another project currently under construction in Guadalupe is the Guadalupe ADA project. Construction began in Spring of 2026 and the project will add ADA pedestrian infrastructure improvements including upgrade driveways, curb ramps, and sidewalks. Beginning the week of November 2, the shoulder closure will be from 5th St. south to State Route 166.
