Transit Programs Oversight
The Transit Programs Oversight Branch in the Office of Transit Planning plays a vital role in supporting California’s transit network by overseeing the Transportation Development Act (TDA) and assisting the California State Transportation Agency (CalSTA) with the pre-award activities of the Transit and Intercity Rail Capital Program (TIRCP) process. The Branch’s focus of fostering collaboration between Caltrans, other State agencies, regional transit agencies and transit operators to ensure a unified and sustainable transit system that serves the needs of communities across California.
Public Utilities Code (PUC) section 99241 authorizes the California Department of Transportation to administer the statutes and regulations of the Transportation Development Act (TDA) through a delegated authority. The Division of Transportation Planning has been given full authority to administer the Transportation Development Act on behalf of Caltrans.
