Rail and Transit Capital Programs

We strive to anticipate our partner agencies' needs and provide expertise and support in the delivery of Rail and Transit Capital programs' projects through quality service, innovation and leadership. 


Transit and Intercity Rail Capital Programs (TIRCP)

The Secretary of the Transportation Agency (CalSTA) delegated the authority for the administration of TIRCP to Caltrans.  Working directly with local  agencies, RTCP is administering the program pursuant to the TIRCP Guidelines and all applicable policies and procedures for program administration. 

State Transit Programs

Programs included SB1 (SSCP, TCEP, LPP) (Formulaic and Competitive), State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) and Proposition 1A and 1B.

TIRCP Cycle 7 announces Over $1.3 Billion for Public Transportation Projects

  • More than $1.3 billion is being awarded from the Transit and Intercity Rail Capital Program (TIRCP) to improve transit and passenger rail service in California.
  • 27 projects are being funded statewide and will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 4.3 million metric tons - equivalent to taking more than 
    million gas-powered cars off the road. 
  • Over $4.8 billion has been invested since 2023 to transit and passenger rail projects from competitive TIRCP grants.
