Interagency Equity Advisory Committee

The Interagency Equity Advisory Committee (EAC) is intended to elevate diverse and historically marginalized voices to advise Caltrans, the California Transportation Commission (CTC), and the California State Transportation Agency (CalSTA) on how to achieve meaningful outcomes in transportation equity, environmental justice, and equitable economic opportunities, especially as related to transportation planning and programming.

Background

From mid-2020 through early 2021, Caltrans, CTC, and CalSTA released racial equity statements highlighting each agency’s strong commitment to equity. To implement these statements, each agency identified the development of an equity advisory committee as a tangible tool to implement meaningful change. This strategy was memorialized in the Climate Action Plan for Transportation Infrastructure (CAPTI) in 2021.

The formation of the EAC was approved in June 2022. The first 15 members were appointed to the EAC in October 2022, and the first committee meeting was held on March 21, 2023. View Charter
