Caltrans District 9 covers an expansive area of eastern California, covering Mono, Inyo, and eastern Kern counties. It is a gorgeous, nature-rich area that a perfect playground for hikers, fishers, rock climbers, nature photographers, and anyone else who enjoys the great outdoors. District 9 is home to the highest point in the contiguous United States (Mount Whitney) and the lowest point in North America (Badwater Basin in Death Valley).
