SR-27 from PCH to Grand View Drive reopened to previous conditions Wednesday
LOS ANGELES – Caltrans crews reopened the 3.6-mile stretch of Topanga Canyon Boulevard/State Route 27 (SR-27) between Pacific Coast Highway and Grand View Drive by noon Wednesday after workers cleared the highway of mud and debris from this week’s rainstorms.
Caltrans closed the highway at 10 p.m. Sunday ahead of strong storm systems moving through the Los Angeles area and kept it closed due to numerous debris flows and continued weather forecasts.
This stretch of SR-27 is an active work zone for ongoing recovery efforts from the Palisades Fire and winter storms. It is currently closed from midnight to 5 a.m. daily and has traffic restrictions including a roughly half-mile, one-way traffic control section south of the Topanga town center.
For the safety of workers and one another, motorists must obey the 25-mph speed limit in the work zones, along with any posted signs and traffic controllers. There is no parking, no stopping and no pedestrians allowed in the work zones.
Motorists are advised to take extra caution while driving SR-27, especially around blind curves in case of stalled traffic ahead of one-way sections, and be alert for workers and slow-moving vehicles. Fines can be doubled in a work zone.
Check current traffic conditions on the Caltrans Quickmap.
