Upcoming Half-Mile Lane Closure on Pacific Coast Highway at Las Flores Canyon

The closure for recovery work will be from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, July 3

Malibu – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announces a one-lane closure on northbound State Route 1/Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, July 3, for about half a mile south of Las Flores Canyon Road while the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) completes fire recovery work.

Northbound PCH will be reduced to one lane from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 3 starting about half a mile south of and ending at the highway’s intersection with Las Flores Canyon Road. USACE is working on clearing debris at a private property.

Traffic will be monitored, and Caltrans will request an early end to the closure if warranted by traffic demands.

The section of PCH from Santa Monica to Malibu that reopened to the motoring public on May 23 is still an active work zone as Caltrans, USACE and various contractors and utility workers complete repairs and recovery work. It had been closed for five months following the Palisades Fire and winter storms that brought flooding and debris flows to the area.

Caltrans reminds the public that traffic fines can be doubled in a work zone. Drivers should use caution driving through the area and slow down and be alert for workers.
