FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Topanga Canyon Boulevard Restrictions Oct. 15-16, Due to Red Flag Warning

Restriction is between Mulholland Drive and Pacific Coast Highway

TOPANGA ― Caltrans, in coordination with Los Angeles County Public Works and Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, will restrict access to Topanga Canyon Boulevard (State Route 27) between Mulholland Highway and Pacific Coast Highway (State Route 1) in the unincorporated Los Angeles County community of Topanga in the Santa Monica Mountains.

Only residents will be allowed between 6 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, and 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, due to a National Weather Service Red Flag Warning and elevated fire danger caused by strong Santa Ana winds, low humidity, and high temperatures.

Motorists are advised to use Interstate 10, US 101, and Interstate 405 as alternate routes. Electronic message signs will be activated to direct traffic.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department will staff checkpoints along State Route 27, Old Topanga Road, and surrounding canyon roads. The Los Angeles County Fire Department will monitor fire conditions and respond to any flare-ups as needed.

Due to weather or operational reasons, the schedule is subject to change, including the times and dates, and other details. Please visit Quickmap for current road conditions.
