Overnight Closures Scheduled Dec. 22-23 at State Route 91 from Cerritos to Gardena for Sign Rehabilitation Project

Los Angeles— Caltrans is planning overnight connector and lane closures along State Route 91 (SR-91) from Cerritos to Gardena in Los Angeles County, on Monday Dec. 22 for survey work and Tuesday Dec. 23, for k-rail installation for a sign rehabilitation project.

There will be no lane closures Wednesday Nov. 24 through Saturday Dec. 27, due to the Christmas holiday.

Eastbound SR-91 will be reduced to three lanes overnight between Vermont Avenue in Gardena and Interstate 710 (I-710). Westbound SR-91 will be reduced to two lanes between Vermont Avenue in Gardena and Interstate 605 (I-605). There will be rolling overnight full closures at connectors and ramps as the contractor moves between locations for K-rail installation. Detour routes will be marked.

The following lane closures are subject to change and are scheduled as follows:

Monday night, Dec. 22 through Tuesday morning, Dec. 23

Westbound SR-91

  • Closure of two left lanes on westbound SR-91 from Atlantic Avenue to Vermont Avenue from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Eastbound SR-91

  • Closure of two left lanes on eastbound SR-91 from Vermont Avenue to I-710, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Tuesday night, Dec. 23 through Wednesday morning, Dec. 24

Westbound SR-91

  • Closure of two right lanes on westbound SR-91 from Atlantic Avenue to Vermont Avenue from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m.
  • Closure of two right lanes on westbound SR-91 from I-605 to Atlantic Avenue from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m.

The following connectors may be closed during work hours:

  • Westbound SR-91 connector to northbound I-110 from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.

  • Northbound I-110 connector to westbound SR-91 closed from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m.

Southbound I-110

  • Southbound I-110 connector to westbound SR-91 closed from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m.
  • Southbound I-110 connector to eastbound and westbound SR-91 closed from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m.

Southbound I-605

Northbound I-710

Message signs will be placed along detour routes to direct traffic. Caltrans encourages motorists to allow extra travel time and to drive with caution in the area

Due to weather or operational reasons, the schedule is subject to change including the times and dates, the number of closures and other details. This $34 million project will rehabilitate and upgrade roadside and overhead signs, lighting, restore highway planting, replace guardrail, and make worker safety improvements a 14.7-mile stretch of SR-91 in Los Angeles County. It is expected to be completed in summer 2029. The contractor is Security Paving Company, Inc.
