MALIBU ― The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is planning a week-long lane closure for a section of State Route 23 (SR-23, Decker Road/Westlake Boulevard) in unincorporated Los Angeles County area of Malibu starting Monday May, 12. Crews will perform pavement work at postmile (PM) 6.3, just south of Mulholland Highway, followed by construction north of Mulholland Highway at PM 7.5 a week later.
The closure of the southbound lane on SR-23 will take place at the following location on May 12 – May 19, with one-way reversing traffic control for the duration of construction:
· PM 6.3, roughly half mile south of Mulholland Highway
The closure of the southbound lane on SR-23 will take place at the following location on May 20 – May 22, with one-way reversing traffic control for the duration of construction:
· PM 7.5, approximately a mile north of Mulholland Highway
Motorists and bicyclists should expect temporary portable traffic signals at the closure limits. Crews will conduct traffic control during daytime hours, between 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Construction schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Residents and businesses located near construction may experience noise, vibrations and dust associated with construction activities. This work is part of an emergency repair project on an 8.7-mile stretch of SR-23 to address damages that occurred due to severe winter storms in 2024. The contractor is Summer Construction, Inc.
