VENTURA COUNTY― Caltrans is planning daytime lane closures along Pacific Coast Highway/State Route 1 (PCH) from Tonga Street to Yerba Buena Road in Malibu, on April 17, for work on a crosswalk installation project.

PCH remains open during construction, with a single lane closure to allow for construction activity on one side of the highway at a time.

The closures are subject to change and are scheduled as follows:

Friday, April 17

Northbound PCH

  • Up to one lane closed between Tonga Street to Yerba Buena Road starting as early as 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Southbound PCH

  • Up to one lane closed between Tonga Street to Yerba Buena Road starting as early as 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

During lane closures, driveways to homes and businesses will remain accessible. Motorists and community members may expect shoulder and parking restrictions during construction work on the southbound lane of PCH. Signs will be posted in advance of any parking restrictions.

Residents and businesses located near the state highway are advised to anticipate noise, vibrations, and dust associated with construction activities. Construction activity will be limited to approved working hours.

General Work hours are scheduled for:

Monday through Friday:

  • 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Saturday

  • 12:00 a.m. to 8 a.m.

Motorists are reminded to slow down in the construction work areas and follow the posted speed limits. Closures are weather-permitting and subject to change.

The $1.5 million project will install a marked crosswalk with pedestrian hybrid beacon signals at postmile (PM) 1.15 — in front of Neptune’s Net Restaurant and County Line Beach — with flashing warning beacons 800 feet north and south of the crosswalk to ensure pedestrians can safely cross PCH.
