Caltrans Seeks Public Input on Lincoln Boulevard Bus Lanes Extension Feasibility Study
Public invited to take survey, attend April 16 open house in Venice to learn more
Los Angeles – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) seeks public input for its Extension of Bus Lanes on Lincoln Boulevard Feasibility Study to identify community needs and advance a more efficient and equitable transit network.
The feasibility study looks at the potential of extending peak-hour bus lanes on a three-mile stretch of Lincoln Boulevard (State Route 1) from Venice Boulevard to West Manchester Avenue. The goal is to maximize the use of existing right-of-way and improve the speed and reliability of transit services.
The public is invited to attend an open house starting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at Oakwood Recreation Center, 767 California Ave., in Venice. Caltrans staff will be available to share information about the study and answer questions.
Community members can also fill out an online survey to provide feedback on the proposed alternatives and share their experiences with the area. The survey is available in English and Spanish at Extension of Bus Lanes on Lincoln Boulevard Feasibility Study through May 7. All survey comments will be incorporated into the study and project planning process.
The study segment is within the boundaries of the City of Los Angeles, but the City of Santa Monica’s Big Blue Bus is the primary transit service provider along the study area, operating its Route 3 and Rapid 3 lines. Other bus operators in this segment include: Culver City Bus Lines, Los Angeles Department of Transportation’s LAnow On-Demand Shuttle, LADOT Commuter Express and LA Metro.
This segment of Lincoln Boulevard was identified as a “hotspot of low speeds that could benefit from bus lanes” through the Better Buses for California initiative. More details about the study are available in English at Extension of Bus Lanes on Lincoln Boulevard, or in Spanish at Extensión de Carriles Exclusivos para Autobuses.
