Northbound On-Ramp Will Be Closed 24/7 for Two Months During Construction of Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing
Agoura Hills — The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) plans to temporarily close the U.S. Highway 101/Ventura Freeway
northbound on-ramp at Liberty Canyon Road for two months, starting on Monday, March 24, 2025.
The ramp is expected to be closed 24/7 through the end of May. The long-term closure is for crews to place rocks and other landscaping materials on the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing which is under construction on US-101 west of Liberty Canyon Road.
During the closure, motorists may use other nearby on-ramps to northbound US-101 at Lost Hills Road and at Chesebro Road. The only lane closure will be of the auxiliary lane, located at the closed on-ramp. The scheduled closure is subject to change due to weather or operational reasons.
Caltrans is constructing the project in two stages to reconnect habitat that is vital for wildlife. Stage 1 is the crossing over US-101. Stage 2 involves construction of a crossing over an adjacent street (Agoura Road), relocation of utility lines, earthwork and construction of habitat areas. The target date for completion is late 2026.
The public may request a free weekly email from Caltrans giving updates on the project’s construction and traffic impacts such as lane and ramp closures. To sign up, send your email address to D7inquiries@dot.ca.gov or call (213) 897-1200.
