Work is start of San Gabriel Valley Bridge Preservation Project
ROSEMEAD — Caltrans announces a 55-hour extended weekend lane reduction on eastbound Interstate 10 (I-10) from San Gabriel Boulevard to Rosemead Boulevard for bridge preservation work in the city of Rosemead. Crews will reduce eastbound I-10 to one lane from Friday night, Sep. 5 to Monday morning, Sep. 8.
The following closures will be in place from 10 p.m. Friday, Sep. 5 to 5 a.m. Monday, Sep. 8.:
· Closure of three lanes and two HOV lanes on eastbound I-10 from San Gabriel Boulevard to Rosemead Boulevard.
· Closure of eastbound I-10 on-ramps at San Gabriel Boulevard, Walnut Grove Avenue and Rosemead Boulevard for duration of 55-hour weekend closure. Detour signs will be posted.
The work involves methacrylate deck treatment to seal cracks, polyester concrete overlays to extend bridge deck life, spalls repair, joint seal replacement, and applying pavement markings.
Message signs will be placed along detour routes to direct traffic and alert motorists of upcoming closures. Caltrans encourages motorists to allow extra travel time and to drive with caution in the area. Construction will continue through fall 2026, with multiple 55-hour weekend ramp and lane closures scheduled for bridge preservation work on I-10.

This work is part of the San Gabriel Valley Bridge Preservation Project to improve bridge health and safety, enhance ride-quality, and extend the service life of 13 bridges on I-10, State Route 60 (SR-60) and State Route 71 (SR-71) in Los Angeles County. The work totals $6.9 million. The contractor is J Francis Company.
