Caltrans Central Coast Logo

California’s Central Coast is a picturesque and special part of the State, with stunning coastlines, diverse plant and animal species, iconic driving, bicycling, and outdoor experiences, renown wine regions, fertile agriculture lands that feed the state, nation, and beyond, and charming towns which provide relaxed coastal living and a worldwide tourist destination.

Caltrans District 5 Public and Legislative Affairs provides communities, visitors, businesses, partner agencies, elected officials, and media partners timely and accurate information about the highway transportation system along the Central Coast. Our District is made up of five Counties:

  • Santa Barbara
  • San Luis Obispo
  • Monterey
  • Santa Cruz
  • San Benito
Our office shares information to the public, elected officials, partner agencies, and media outlets on construction activities, maintenance operations, public events, Clean California programs, projects under development, emergency management, and special Caltrans initiatives to help keep all users informed.

For real-time travel conditions, statewide lane closures, and traffic updates, please visit Caltrans QuickMap or the CHP Traffic Incidents Information Page.

Plan ahead! District 5 Planned Lane Closure report is posted every Friday, detailing the planned and scheduled closures for the following week.

Customer Service Request Logo

If you encounter non-emergency issues on our highways-such as potholes, litter, graffiti, or damaged signs-please submit a Customer Service Request. Each request is logged and forwarded to the closest Caltrans maintenance crew to ensure timely follow-up.
