HIGHWAY 156 RAMP CLOSURES AT THE 156/101 INTERCHANGE FOR VEGETATION CONTROL IN PRUNEDALE SET
TO BEGIN TUESDAY, SEPT. 8
MONTEREY COUNTY —Caltrans will complete a vegetation control project in Prunedale along US 101 and Highway 156 beginning Tuesday, September 8.
Crews will be removing vegetation and brush from the westbound to northbound onramp at Highway 156W/101 interchange.
Travelers can expect a full ramp closure from Tuesday, Sept. 8 through Thursday, Sept. 10 from 8 am to 4 pm. A detour will be available as drivers head east on Highway 156 to turn left on Vierra Canyon Rd to enter northbound US 101. Drivers can expect minimal delays.
This project is in support of California’s Wildfire and Forest Resilience Action Plan to manage vegetation and mitigate wildfire risk along the state highway system. Crews are removing on average between 8,000 and 10,000 lbs. of dense brush daily. This portion of the project is expected to be completed by Friday, September 11.
The contractor for this $330,000 fuel reduction plan is Burn Bot, Inc. of South San Francisco, CA.
