OVERNIGHT TRAFFIC CONTROL ON US 101 FOR VEGETATION CONTROL WORK
IN PRUNEDALE SET TO BEGIN SUNDAY, AUGUST 23

MONTEREY COUNTY — Caltrans will begin a vegetation control project along US 101 in Prunedale beginning Sunday, August 23.

Crews will be removing vegetation and brush from the shoulder of northbound and southbound along a 26.5-mile segment of US 101 starting just south of Ralph Ln. to just south of the Hwy 101/156 junction.

Travelers can expect intermittent shoulder and single lane closures Sunday through Thursday from 8 pm to 4 am. Drivers may expect delays up to 10 minutes.

This project is in support of California’s Wildfire and Forest Resilience Action Plan to manage vegetation and mitigate wildfire risk along the state highway system. Crews are removing on average between 8,000 and 10,000 lbs. of dense brush daily. This portion of the project is expected to be completed by September 4.

The contractor for this $550,000 fuel reduction plan is Burn Bot, Inc. of South San Francisco, CA.
