FULL OVERNIGHT CLOSURE OF HIGHWAY 9 NEAR
BOULDER CREEK SET TO TAKE PLACE MONDAY, AUGUST 24

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY — Travelers on Highway 9 near Boulder Creek will encounter a full overnight closure Monday, August 24.

The highway will be closed overnight Monday, August 24 from 8 pm to 6 am at Kings Creek Bridge from Pool Dr. to Primavera/Old County Hwy as crews set 100’ long precast concrete girders for the southbound portion of the new bridge. This closure and work were originally set to take place in late July. Following placement of the girders, work will occur 24/7 at the Kings Creek Bridge until the bridge deck is poured. That work is expected to be completed by Saturday, August 29.

A detour will be available via Highway 17. Message and directional signs will alert travelers in advance of the areas under traffic control. Please allow for extra time for your travels through the area. Community members in the area can expect noise overnight associated with this closure.

The current temporary signals will return to 24/7 signalized one-way control the morning of August 25. The one-way traffic control supports the Highway 9 San Lorenzo River and Kings Creek Bridge Replacement Project taking place north of Boulder Creek and involves the full replacement of these bridges for the safety of the traveling public. Crews are in the first phase of the project where they close the southbound lane to replace the southbound portion of the bridges below.
