PAVING WORK TO START ON HIGHWAY 101 SOUTH OF BUELLTON ON MONDAY, JULY 6

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY — Travelers in both directions on Highway 101 south of Buellton will encounter daytime traffic closures for pavement griding and paving operations starting Monday, July 6.

Travelers from the south of the Santa Rosa Rd. overcrossing to just north of Old Coast Highway will experience daytime traffic closures southbound from 8 am to 8 pm and northbound from 5 am to 4 pm.

Crews will be removing the existing pavement and replacing it with new surfacing through August 21, 2026.

Crews will work on the lane line, reducing traffic speed to 55 MPH. Bumps and ground surface changes may occur during work, so motorcyclists and cyclists should exercise caution.

Travelers can expect delays of up to ten minutes. Please allow for extra time during your commute through the area.

This project is expected to be completed by November 2026. The contractor for this $15.9 million project is CalPortland Construction of Santa Maria, CA.
