Lane Reduction for Winter Preperation and Resiliency Work on Southbound Highway 1 In San Luis Obispo Set to Begin Friday, October 16
SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY — Travelers will encounter a lane reduction on southbound Highway 1 in San Luis Obispo for approximately six weeks as crews repair a portion of the roadway.
Starting Friday, October 16, travelers will be reduced to one lane heading southbound just south of the California Men’s Colony on Highway 1.
During the closure, crews will perform emergency work to reconstruct the shoulder, stabilize the embankment, upgrade guardrails, and replace failed concrete slabs.
A temporary barrier will be in place for approximately six weeks, once this initial phase is complete, work will continue with intermittent daily lane closures. The shoulder repair work is expected to be completed by the end of December, weather permitting
Travelers can expect up to 10-minute delays. Message and directional signs will alert travelers in advance of the lane closure. Speeds will be reduced to 45 MPH through the work zone.
The Contractor for this $2.9M project is Cal Portland Construction of Santa Maria, CA.
