Highway 9 Upper Drainage and Erosion Control Improvements Project Near Completion
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY — The Highway 9 Upper Drainage and Erosion Control Improvements Project is nearing completion. The work took place between Brookdale and the junction with upper Highway 236.
The project improves the operation of key drainage systems along Hwy. 9 and includes culvert replacement, paving, and enhancement of erosion control systems.
A temporary traffic signal was in place for approximately six months to allow crews access to work on culverts to reduce sediment into the San Lorenzo River and to improve the operation of drainage systems along Hwy 9.
Community members may still see work in this area from 9 am to 4 pm on weekdays with minimal traffic impacts until all materials are removed from the site. This project is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
This project is just one of several improvement projects happening in the San Lorenzo Valley. You can find a more in-depth timeline for the San Lorenzo Valley projects at this link: San Lorenzo Valley Area Projects Fact Sheet
