State Route 4 Garwood Bridge Rehabilitation Project

Project Description

This project is located on State Route (SR) 4 at PM 14.20 near Stockton in San Joaquin County. The scope of proposed project is to address the structural deficiencies in a timely manner as identified in the Bridge Needs Report. In addition, it is proposed to also address maintenance deficiencies such as a removal of underwater debris from Pier No. 2, erosion control along Abut No. 2, and to enhance safety lighting along the approach and departure and at Roberts Lane Intersection.

Project Benefits

Purpose and Need

The purpose of this project is to repair bridge structural deficiencies to allow bridge to be opened via emergency contract in future. No mechanical or electrical work related to opening the bridge will be included in the project.

The need of the project is to remedial work for structural deficiencies for west portal bracing, bridge rails, deck spall repair, backfill void of embankment. Maintenance deficiencies include debris removal in the channel, lighting at approaches and departures.
