2024 Scholarship Program Call for Applications

EUREKA — The Caltrans District 1 Social Fund and the Caltrans Transportation Foundation (CTF) are offering one $2,250 scholarship to a student seeking a career in transportation.

This scholarship will be awarded on a competitive basis to a high school senior or an undergraduate college student. The criteria for winning will be based on the applicant's commitment to a career in transportation, academic record and participation in extracurricular or community-related activities. Financial need will also be considered when determining the scholarship recipient.

District 1 Social Fund Chair Cori Reed said, “Caltrans employees are happy to support the next generation of transportation professionals,” adding that there are a variety of disciplines in the field from engineering and construction to archaeology, environmental science and surveying. “We encourage anyone with an interest in transportation to apply.”

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be a high school senior or undergraduate college student from or residing in Humboldt, Del Norte, Lake or Mendocino counties.
  • Plan to pursue a career in transportation.
  • Attend or be accepted to a post-secondary institute (such as a college, university or a vocational or technical school) in California.
  • Provide an official transcript to verify Grade Point Average (GPA).
  • Provide a description of participation in extra-curricular and/or community-related activities.

Please note that students related to Caltrans employees may apply. Letters of recommendation will be considered but are not required.

Applications are available online only and must be submitted by Friday, May 31.
