COVID -19: FAQs, Information, and Resources

This page provides a listing of websites dedicated to providing information regarding the Coronavirus 2019 (COVID -19) pandemic and how it relates to transit and rail services.

The DRMT is currently distributing the initial $30 million in Phase 1 Standard Agreements for the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) economic relief act funding Federal Transit Administration (FTA) 5311 and 5311(f) Rural Transit & Intercity Bus subrecipients. The remaining funds for Phase 2 distribution will be announced summer 2020. Please refer to the DRMT CARES act funding FAQ page should you have questions or need additional information

On April 15, 2020, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration (FTA) issued the following Safety Advisory (20-01) providing recommended actions to reduce the risk of COVID-19 among transit employees and passengers.

FTA FAQs for FTA Grantees on COVID-19 - FAQs providing clarity regarding how COVID-19 preparations impact certain FTA requirements. Also included are recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to help grantees and subgrantees prepare for COVID-19.

FTA 5310 Program Subrecipient's - Meal Delivery Guidance– FTA 5310 funds may be used to coordinate and assist in providing meal delivery service and essential care needs for homebound individuals, as long as the delivery service does not conflict with providing public transportation service or reduce service to passengers

FTA 2020 Emergency Relief Docket – allows FTA recipients in those states which the governor has declared a COVID-19 related emergency to request temporary relief from federal requirements under 49 U.S.C. Chapter 53 in addition to the provisions of any non-statutory FTA requirements

OSHA COVID-19 Webpage – the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) webpage summarizing OSHA standards, directives, updates, and other related information that apply to worker exposure to COVID-19.

CDC COVID-19 Webpage – latest information from CDC and the overarching medical community on COVID-19, including information on how the disease can be spread, symptoms, prevention, and treatment.

APTA COVID-19 Webpage – the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) webpage displays the outpouring the requests of transit agencies and associations in need of federal financial assistance due to COVID-19.

CALACT COVID-19 Webpage – the California Association for Coordinated Transportation (CALACT) resource page provides hyperlinks to NCHRP's Pandemic training, California Department of Public Health, CDC, and a map tracking COVID-19 incidents being reported.
