How or where can I find the minimum qualifications for the class that I am interested in?
The minimum qualifications are listed in the examination bulletin or a link to the class specifications can be found on the job posting you are interested in.
If you no longer have a copy of the bulletin or job posting, please visit the California State Civil Service Class Specifications on the California Department of Human Resources’ (CalHR) website to look up the classification you are interested in and read the information under the “minimum qualifications” section of the classification specification.
What if I previously worked for the State of California?
An employee who previously worked for the State of California may be entitled to reinstatement rights, regardless of how long ago they were employed.

What if I work for the federal government, a city or county entity?
Like all other candidates, you must first take and successfully pass a State of California civil service examination before you may be eligible to apply for job vacancies with any state agency.
