Career Executive Assignment (CEA) Examinations

Career Executive Assignments are appointments to high administrative and policy-influencing positions for which the primary responsibility is the managing of a function or rendering of management advice to top level administrative authority.

Statement of Qualifications (SOQ)

Each CEA job announcement contains evaluation criteria which outline the minimum qualifications for the position. To apply for any of these positions, a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be submitted along with the State application. An SOQ is a discussion of how an applicant’s education, training, experience, and skills meet the evaluation criteria and qualify them for the position.

CEA Applicants must submit a CalHR STD 678: State of California Examination/Employment Application (PDF), along with a Statement of Qualifications.

A resume will not be accepted in lieu of a Statement of Qualifications.
