LOS ANGELES — The urgent clean-up and repair of a substantial rock and dirt slide on State Route 2 (Angeles Crest Highway) in the San Gabriel Mountains in Angeles National Forest this winter required a unique piece of equipment that climbs and clears slopes too steep for regular bulldozers.

In this Caltrans News Flash, we describe how a large dirt and rock slide was removed on State Route 2 near Los Angeles. The closed portion of this route normally carries substantial traffic on route to ski resorts in the Angeles National Forest.
