State Route 79 Shoulder Widening Near Aguanga

RIVERSIDE, CA The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) contractor crews continue a $61M project on State Route 79 in Riverside County near Aguanga, from north of the SR-371 Junction to south of Pauba Rd.

K-rail barriers will be placed for the duration of the project for the safety of crews and drivers. All work will be performed behind k-rail. One lane will be closed requiring traffic to be guided via flagging operations, in both directions, and temporary signals placed. All work is weather and material dependent meaning delays and changes may occur in the work schedule.

Daytime flagging operations continue weekly for roadway excavation, rock removal and drainage work from Monday to Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Expected wait time per flagging location is approx. 25 minutes or less. Please note that various flagging points may be required throughout the project zone, PLAN FOR DELAYS.

Delays may reach 45 minutes or more at peak commuter hours! Please plan accordingly. All work is weather dependent and subject to change. Please adhere to all signage and slow your speed in the construction zone.

This is an ACTIVE construction zone! It is advised to use an alternate route to avoid delays. Plan ahead! Expected project completion is spring 2027.

Use caution and expect delays during construction hours. Law enforcement will be on scene to enforce. Remember to reduce your speed in and surrounding the work zone. Crews are working in narrow areas on various retaining wall, excavation and work activities. Night work will be scheduled to complete some work operations; however, daytime activities are required for the safety of crews and timely completion of project scope.  Be advised, weather may affect construction schedule.
