Interstate 15 Auxiliary Lanes Project City of Temecula 
October 2025

RIVERSIDE, CAThe California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) continues work on Interstate 15 (I-15) to construct auxiliary lanes, widen shoulders at Empire Creek Bridge, widen Rancho California Rd. on-ramps, soundwall, guardrail installation and various other transportation system upgrades. This $33.8M project will occur just north of Temecula Parkway to just north of Winchester Rd.

Work occurs Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 2:30p.m. Crews work on retaining wall, excavation, backfilling and more behind k-rail. During nightly operations, from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m., work includes constructing concrete barriers and middle barriers, channel repair and bridge maintenance.

On December 12-14, 2025, the Rancho California Road onramp going southbound will experience a 54-hour full closure due to asphalt concrete operations. The ramps will close approximately at 10 p.m. Friday and reopen 4 a.m. on Monday.

Night work will include alternating LANE CLOSURES with at least one lane of through access both north-bound (NB) and south-bound (SB) along I-15. RAMP CLOSURES will also occur at NB/SB Rancho California Rd. and SB SR-79/Winchester Rd. Signage will be placed to alert drivers of ramp and lane closures ahead. Please proceed cautiously for the safety of crews and other drivers! All work is weather and material dependent it may be modified or canceled at any time.

Work operations include realignment and setting k-rail barriers along the project zone. Drivers, please keep in mind there are various projects in the area ongoing in coordination with the local city and transportation agencies. We ask and thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation in getting these projects completed in the safest manner possible.

Law enforcement will be monitoring traffic for safety protocol. Please be mindful of construction area speed limits and plan ahead for delays.

Drivers, please note Changeable Message Signs placed ahead of work areas alerting public about roadwork ahead. Plan ahead for delays near the work area!
