I-10 Blythe Pavement Rehabilitation

Interstate 10 Pavement, Beautification & Safety Enhancements Project near Blythe

RIVERSIDE, CA – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) continues work on a $241 million pavement, beautification, and safety enhancements project on Interstate 10 (I-10), in and near Blythe. The project includes concrete pavement rehabilitation of 88 lane miles, on and off ramps, and shoulders. 11,950 linear feet of new guardrail systems. Postmile locations are from 134.0 to 156.5. Upgrades of curb ramps, sidewalks and crosswalk safety enhancements and push button posts to ADA standards (Americans with Disabilities Act). Also included are bridge upgrades, new signage, landscaping, and a Beautification Monument. Project work is expected to be completed by winter 2026.

Hours of operation: Monday through Friday 24-hour operations: 

• West-bound #1 acceleration and deceleration partial lanes closed in the project zone during operating hours 4 a.m. to 2 p.m. from Monday through Friday.

• Westbound around the clock alternating lane closures of # 1 lane from Seventh St. to Lovekin Blvd. The duration of these lane closures will be approximately 3 months.

• Eastbound around the clock traffic pattern changes with eastbound traffic crossing over to westbound lanes established from Lovekin Blvd. to Seventh St. The duration of these traffic pattern changes will be approximately 3 months.

• Eastbound Seventh St. off-ramp and on-ramp closures will begin on Saturday, February 14. The duration of these ramp closures will be approximately 42 days.

• Eastbound mainline closure main scope of work behind the k-rail barriers between Lovekin Blvd. and Seventh St. will include to improve the roadway condition and longevity by replacing the old asphalt pavement with new jointed plain concrete pavement (JCPC), upgrading approach concrete slabs between the eastbound pavement and bridges, and upgrading new drainage systems along the route.

• Eastbound ramp closures scope of work behind the k-rail barriers at Seventh St. will improve driving conditions by installing new jointed plain concrete
pavement (JCPC), signage, and road striping on the EB on-ramp and off-ramp.

• I-10 grade median operation with median closures will resume from Mesa Dr. to Lovekin Blvd. from Monday through Friday. The work will transform paved detours and restore the median back to its original formation.

Access remains for traffic. Please adhere to signage and look ahead for merging traffic. Be advised that speed limits are reduced throughout the construction zone.
