Vincent Thomas Bridge CAC/TAC
What is a Community Advisory Committee?
The Community Advisory Committee (CAC) was created by Caltrans to involve local voices in the Vincent Thomas Bridge (VTB) Deck Replacement project. It includes members from neighborhood councils, schools, unions, business groups, and other community organizations. Elected officials or their staff also take part. The committee meets monthly, and each meeting is recorded and shared online so the public can stay informed. To help build stronger connections, CAC members also join the Technical Advisory Committee meetings.
What is a Technical Advisory Committee?
Caltrans formed the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) to bring in expert advice and help coordinate with different government agencies on the VTB project. The TAC supports the Caltrans design team by offering technical input on safety, timing, and concerns shared by the CAC. Members include representatives from cities, counties, public works, law enforcement, ports, and other agencies. Elected officials or their staff also attend. TAC meetings happen monthly, are recorded, and made available to the public. TAC members also join CAC meetings to support clear communication between both committees.
