State Route 87 Soundwall Replacement

What Is Being Planned

Caltrans is scheduled to begin repairing a soundwall alongside State Route 87,just south of Virginia Street next to Prevost Street, in the city of San Jose, Santa Clara County. The purpose of this work is to remove and replace the full wooden wall with masonry wall, which will reduce noise by constructing the soundwall as an effective noise abatement measure.

The current sound wall needs to be replaced to maintain the integrity of our state highway system.

• The sound wall will range 10 feet in height.
• Construction involves removing the existing plywood sheet soundwall and installing a new masonry block soundwall.
• Residents living in the area should expect noise as well as other common construction related sounds.
