I 80/SR 29 Bridge Replacement Project Vallejo
Project Overview:
Caltrans Bay Area will begin construction Interstate 80 bridge deck at State Route 29 Interchange in early-June 2021. This project will completely remove the 173-foot-long bridge deck and replace it with a new strengthened bridge deck and approach slabs.

Scope of Work:
The new construction will include a Class 1 bike path on northbound State Route 29, increase vertical clearance of the bridge from 15.2 feet to 18.7 feet and add new drainage inlets on I-80 upstream and down stream of the bridge.
Ramp Closures:
For public and worker safety, the following I-80 On-Ramps will be closed on or around June 11, 2021 and will remain closed until June 2023.
- Sequoia Avenue On-Ramp to WB I-80 closed
- SR-29/Sonoma Blvd. On-Ramp to WB-80 closed
During these I-80 ramp closures, motorists are advised to use:

Other I-80 entrances to access I-80 in Vallejo. The westbound I-80 Off-ramp at Sequoia Ave will remain open. The eastbound I-80 Off-Ramp at SR-29/Sonoma Blvd. will be reduced from two to one lane and will remain largely open but may be intermittently closed during various overnight closures.

Drivers Benefits:
The new bridge deck will be able to support full permit load capacity, it will increase the vertical clearance to 18.7 feet, improve the freeway drainage and a new paved bike bath will provide bicyclists and pedestrians connectivity to the Vallejo Bluff Trail on the northbound side of State Route 29.
Project Timeline:
Construction work will begin Early-June 2021 and is expected to be completed by June 2023

The I-80/SR-29 Bridge Replacement project is funded by Senate Bill 1 (SB1 Funding) and State Highway Operation and Protection Program.
