San Mateo County ― Caltrans is continuing to perform paving, electrical, and drainage work on the State Route 1 (SR-1) Multi-Asset Roadway Rehabilitation Project between Moss Beach and Half Moon Bay in June.
Work is scheduled to start on Wednesday, June 3 at SR-1 and Main Street and then continue at State Route 92 (SR-92) and Kelly Ave in Half Moon Bay. Crews will work at each intersection for two to three nights before moving locations. Since most work takes place overnight, drivers should expect that lane closures and one-way traffic control will result in minor delays between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. Residents should expect nighttime noise.
All pedestrian push buttons within the project limits are currently operational and will be repaired quickly if any should sustain damage.
Caltrans thanks residents, motorists, and all users of the roadway for their patience and understanding while we adjusted the timing of the traffic signals. Our Traffic Operations team will continue to monitor and adjust the signal timing as needed to ensure smooth traffic flow.

Known as the SR-1 Multi-Asset Roadway Rehabilitation Project, the $46.7M project encompasses upgrading assets (such as pavement, guardrails, curbs, and crosswalks) that are nearing the end their service lives. Assets will be brought up to ADA standards, and Class II bike lanes will be added to both the north- and south-bound sides of the roadway. The project will continue through the summer of 2027. This work is funded by the State Highway Operation and Protection Program (SHOPP). SHOPP is the State Highway System's “fix-it-first” program that funds the repair and preservation on the state's highway system.
All work is weather dependent. Please drive with caution. Thank you for your patience as we work to maintain our state’s highways, bridges, and tunnels.
