Full and partial closures of El Camino Real March 23 - April 8, San Mateo County

San Mateo County  Caltrans has updated the lane closure schedule on the State Route (SR) 82 El Camino Real Roadway Renewal project which seeks to maintain El Camino Real as a safe, accessible, and reliable transportation corridor.

Full roadway closures continue from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays for tree removals.

Oak Grove Ave. to Carmelita Ave.

  • Monday, March 23

Forest View Ave./Oak Grove Ave. to Howard Ave.

  • Tuesday, March 24 - Friday, March 27
  • Monday, March 30 - Friday, April 3
  • Monday, April 6 - Wednesday, April 8

Some areas of Forest View Ave. will be off limits to parking during detour hours.

Please be aware that the discovery of nesting birds and bats may require changes to the closure schedule at short notice. 

 

Detour: Oak Grove to Carmelita

Driving north on El Camino Real, turn right on Oak Grove, left on California, left on Carmelita, and right on El Camino Real.

Driving south on El Camino Real, turn left on Carmelita, right on California, right on Oak Grove , and left on El Camino Real. 

Detour: Forest View/Oak Grove to Howard

Driving north on El Camino Real, turn right on Howard, left on California, left on Oak Grove, and right on El Camino Real.

Driving south on El Camino Real, turn right on Forest View, left on Sharon Ave, continue straight through the roundabout to Hillsborough, left on Ralston, right on Occidental, left on Howard, and right on El Camino Real. 

Lane closures are scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays for potholing work from:

Rosedale Ave to Grove Ave.

  • Monday, March 23 - Wednesday, March 25

Santa Inez Ave. to Peninsula Dr.

  • Monday, March 23 - Friday, March 27
  • Monday, March 30 - Friday, April 3

Oak Grove to Floribunda Ave.

  • Thursday, March 26 & Friday, March 27
  • Monday, March 30 - Friday, April 3

Potholing is the process of identifying utilities under the roadway to visually verify the exact depth and type of utilities present to avoid damage before paving work begins. 

The $173M El Camino Real roadway rehabilitation projectwill maintain El Camino Real as a safe, accessible, and reliable transportation corridor. The project encompasses repaving the road and upgrading sidewalks for enhanced mobility. It also aims to reduce localized flooding and to improve visibility.
