San Mateo County ― Due to forecasted rainy weather, Caltrans has updated its upcoming schedule for closures on El Camino Real in Burlingame. The closures are necessary to accommodate large equipment required for tree removal work for the El Camino Real Roadway Renewal project.
The roadway between Edgehill and Carmelita will be open on Tuesday, February 10. And, starting next week from February 17, the full closures on El Camino Real will occur on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Upcoming closures are as follows:
- Wednesday, February 11 – Friday, February 13 from Edgehill to Carmelita
- Tuesday, February 17 – Friday, February 20 from Floribunda to Carmelita
It’s important for drivers to follow the authorized, posted detours because many side streets adjacent to El Camino Real are too narrow to accommodate large traffic volumes and can quickly become gridlocked and dangerous.

Driving south on El Camino Real, turn left on Carmelita, right on Paloma, right on Edgehill, and left on El Camino Real.
