Overnight Partial Lane Reductions on Westbound I-80 San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge Scheduled for Routine Cable Inspection

Published:

San Francisco/Oakland, CA – Caltrans will conduct overnight partial lane reductions on the westbound I-80 San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge (SFOBB). For three consecutive Saturday nights: May 3, May 10, and May 17, 2025, three lanes will be closed from 10:00 PM Saturday to 7:00 AM, Sunday, the following morning.

Two lanes will remain open. The lane reductions are necessary to allow Caltrans crews to safely perform routine cable inspection and maintenance on the bridge. The cable inspection project is part of an ongoing maintenance project that began in September 2024, to ensure the continued safety and functionality of the SFOBB.

Motorists should expect minor delays and are encouraged to allow extra travel time or seek alternate routes if possible. Electronic message signs will be in place to notify motorists of the closures in advance.

Traffic Control Measures:

Changeable messages and directional signs will be in place to assist motorists traveling in the area. During the closures. Caltrans thanks the public for their patience as we work to maintain the safety and integrity of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge.
