San Francisco — Caltrans is scheduling overnight closures of two lanes on Interstate 80 (I-80) beginning Monday, September 16 at 9:00 PM to allow crews to make emergency barrier repairs. One lane will remain open while the work is taking place. The emergency repairs are necessary to replace damaged concrete barrier and tubular railing on connectors due to vehicle collisions over the years. The repairs include removing and rebuilding sections of the barrier structures. During the closure window, motorists may experience significant traffic delays. Motorist should use an alternate route, listed below.

This month’s repairs are the first of many other needed repairs requiring lane closures on the Central freeway through October. Caltrans will keep the public apprised of any future scheduled closures.
