PURPOSE AND NEED:

The purpose of this project is to preserve the existing pavement and prevent further deterioration of the roadway from the Sierra County line to the SR 89/SR 49 junction in Sierraville. The project will also extend the operational life of various drainage systems, modernize pedestrian facilities, and improve safety features within the project limits.

The existing pavement shows signs of cracking and is projected to deteriorate further in the absence of a pavement maintenance project. Multiple culverts are also in need of rehabilitation and/or replacement to restore functionality. Sidewalks and driveways along SR 89 within Sierraville do not meet current ADA standards and show signs of distress and deterioration.
