FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Sacramento County — Motorists can expect travel delays beginning Friday at the Interstate 5 and 80 interchange in North Sacramento. Slab replacement and pavement work has been scheduled.

A contractor will shut down the connector from northbound I-5 to eastbound I-80 for about 15 hours starting at 8 p.m. Friday, December 13 and continuing through 11 a.m. Saturday, December 14.

Caltrans advises motorists to plan for these delays and allow additional travel time. The California Highway Patrol will be at the work sites for traffic enforcement. The following detours are recommended.

Detour for North I-5 to East I-80 Connector:

  • Continue NORTH on I-5 to Arena Boulevard off-ramp (EXIT 524), turn around on to SOUTH I-5 to East Reno I-80 (EXIT 522).

This project is to preserve and extend the life of existing pavement and improve ride quality. The work will include rehabilitating pavement at various connectors and ramps in Sacramento County, on I-80, from 0.2 miles west of W. El Camino O.C. to 0.2 miles east of 80/244 Separation.  More information on this project can be located here.

Weather or unexpected events may delay or prolong the work. Caltrans advises motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert.” The department will issue construction updates on Twitter @CaltransDist3 and on Facebook at CaltransDistrict3.
